Building a Mediterranean House

Why we loved building this home!

Nashville has been home to my husband’s family – great folks for several generations – over a 100 years!

So it’s super nice to be near family!

My In-laws would show us special little spots like “The Picnic” or “The Pineapple Room” or describe interesting historical facts like how Sylvan Park used to be an airport. I found other cool trivia like how Union Station used to have live alligators as an attraction. Or how Harvey’s Department Store let monkeys run freely in the 1950’s and  how Belle Meade plantation had a herd of buffalo and deer on their estate.

We’ve been involved in Hands on Nashville, Urban Farm, Entrepreneurial Center, Literacy Programs and all sorts of activities: Concerts and art at Cheekwood Gardens, Steeplechase, Tomato Art Fest, Indie movies at the Belcourt Theatre, Annual Film Festival in “GHills”, annual Thanksgivings Day morning run in our neighborhood called the Boulevard  Bolt (people dressed up with turkey hats or reindeer bells), the Symphony, concerts at The Ryman, work lunches at Union Station and Flying Saucer (aka “skirts”), Screen on the Green, hiking trails at Percy Warner Park, walking over to see fireworks on Fourth of July on the Belle Meade Country Club, brunch at Fido’s, Dog Parks, East Nashville Running Group, Locale Tacos, 12South, bike rides on the Greenways thru Sylvan Park, Narrows of the Harpeth (River) for swimming, Nashville Climb Center…lots of fun! Antiquing in Nolensville and Franklin on Saturday mornings.

Small town feel but with lots and lots to do!
