Steps, Railings, Fence

It felt like it took forever to get the stairs in place. We spent months climbing ladders to get to the upper floors. One of the challenging parts of drawing plans is placing the opening between the upstairs and downstairs where everything fits appropriately and you get the proper clearance on the stairs. We had to enlarge the stairwell area in the stairs behind the garage to get some reasonable headroom above the stairs.

The metal railings were the last items to be installed before the final inspection. We took a nice steel railing and added metal decorations or bows to it to make it more interesting. We added spindles with baskets on the stairs to make that railing more interesting as well. They were built offsite and delivered to the house. There are a wide variety of railings available in a variety of prices.

At the same time we added some fences to enclose the back yard so our dog can run loose behind the house.
